Implementation Traditional decisions regarding energy for the smaller firm usually consist of obtaining a price for equipment replacement from the HVAC, or similar contractor. Contractor practice is to tell the owner the cost, but not provide any substantial details regarding the estimated benefit. SES focuses on the life cycle costs and benefits associated with any decision regarding energy efficiency improvements, especially for capital projects that require lenders to perform due diligence. The first aspect of any efficiency implementation is to have a set of options to evaluate. The analysis that SES performs provides the basis for the establishment of these options. Typical methods for evaluation of benefits include discounted cash flow models that consider owners cost of capital, tax, depreciation, and other offsets, and the effect of incentives, changes in capital costs as well as sensitivity analysis to determine the critical parameters of any particular financial model. The question to be addressed is what are the potential effects of this set of energy decisions on the organization? How does this affect the financial future of the firm? SES seeks to work with clients to not only evaluate the financial options and possibilities, but to develop the projects as well. We work with strategic partners to bring about the best implementation strategy.
